Bus Bombing in Jerusalem

There's been a bus bombing in Jerusalem today! Many were wounded, some seriously. I just received this email from a friend of mine in Jerusalem.

"We just received news of a bus explosion at the convention center just a short bus ride from the office. I AM OK. Early reports are saying 25 are injured, 15 seriously, but no deaths. Pray that if there were any other plans made for more bombs that they will be uncovered before any further harm can be done.

Just for future reference, I usually ride bus 8. This was bus 74, but it does stop at the bus 8 stop where I get on every evening. This happened probably two stops before my stop, but I was at the office, so quite safe. This is the first bus attack in several years. However, with over 50 rocket attacks in the south from Gaza in the last few days, it is obvious that an escalation in attacks on Israel has begun. Palestinians have said they are calling for a third Intifada (uprising) starting in May, but it appears some have started early."

I also got word from my sister that all of the staff at the ministry she heads up are safe! Thank You Lord for protecting my family and friends!

I just read the following from the 'International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem' (ICEJ)

"Terrorism returns to Jerusalem
A large bomb went off near the Jerusalem Conference Center (Binyanei Ha'uma)in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon, killing one person and wounding over 50 others. Police reported that the bomb went off next to bus number 74. Police also reported that the bomb was probably left in a bag near the bus, and that it was not a classical suicide attack. Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat urged citizens to stay alert for similar attacks but to continue with their "normal lives so that the terrorists don't think they can win." Wednesday's attack was the first in Jerusalem in several years."

I was just giving a tour at the museum today and low and behold.....the holocaust is still occurring!

My tour group for the last 9 days was staying at a hotel two blocks from the blast. I took them to the airport yesterday. I've been walking past that bus stop several times the past 9 days. It feels really odd to see the destruction in a place I walked yesterday. Meanwhile I had a great day taking my wife to see wildflowers on the Lebanon border all day today. Sometimes its really nice to be out of Jerusalem and other days its miraculous.

Sandy, I was talking to a young Jewish girl who was on the tour at the museum today. She was so beautiful!! Her name is Rachel and she is 14 years old. I noticed her star of David necklace and we struck up a conversation and I asked her if she had ever been to Israel and she said no. She said her dad and brother are going soon, though. I mentioned your dad's library. Can you tell me where it is, again? That way, if I talk to someone again (lots of people at the museum go to Israel regularly), what would I tell them about where to find it?

It is located in the Bridges For Peace Headquarters building in Jerusalem. I'll get the address and phone number for you and message them to you. I believe since it is in the headquarters building that someone wanting to visit would have to call ahead and make an appointment.
